It is, however, affiliated to, supported by and part of Alan Ayckbourn's Official Website www.alanayckbourn.net.
The website was created by and is administered and researched by Alan Ayckbourn's Archivist, Simon Murgatroyd. All views expressed on this website are his own - except where credited - and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions held or expressed by Alan Ayckbourn or the Stephen Joseph Theatre.
Scarborough In The Round is one of three inter-related websites (alongside www.alanayckbourn.net and www.stephen-joseph.org.uk) exploring the work of Alan Ayckbourn and his mentor Stephen Joseph as well as their contribution to British theatre and the town of Scarborough.
Scarborough In The Round offers a broad background to the two other sites offering a wider perspective of the theatre created in 1955 by Stephen Joseph and later run by Alan Ayckbourn between 1972 and 2009. It offers a factual look at the history of the venue and the productions staged offering a context to the entire body of work produced at the Scarborough in-the-round theatre venues both during and outside the Artistic Director tenures of Stephen Joseph and Alan Ayckbourn.
All research is drawn from previously published material or documents available in archive. It is drawn primarily from the Ayckbourn Digital Archive, the Alan Ayckbourn Archive at the University Of York, the Stephen Joseph Theatre Collection at Scarborough Library and The Bob Watson Archive at the Stephen Joseph Theatre.
